Envelopments Invitation Suite, nyjole jewellery wedding sash, Ting Bridal dress
Welcome to a new year of wedding trends. Congratulations to those of you who got blinged out over the holidays! I wish you much happiness as you plan for your special day. Looking ahead the Wedding Swami says, "Go vintage, add some modern touches, and tweet about it."

The style gurus and experts have all agreed that vintage is back. Wedding dresses with cap sleeves and vintage photography will make great statements as they are paired with modern touches such as bold color.

I found some wonderful "vintagey" pieces on Etsy.com It's a wonderful place to stumble upon some hidden talent and creative designs. I love this "Monica" dress by Ting Bridal. It captures the essence of a bygone era and adds an updated twist. It's available in silk for a real show-stopping number.

When I think of vintage bridal, I always think rhinstone accents. Elaborate crystal sashes can take a very simple dress and turn it into a one-of-a-kind frock! Think about it, when you saw Chelsea Clinton's dress it was a simple Vera Wang style that anyone can purchase. Her crystal sash was the "couture" item that changed the entire look of her dress. This sash by Nyjole could be worn as a hair accessory later on. Dual purpose items never hurt. It's a way to continue to wear something from your very special day on days that you need to feel special.

New bold color palettes include cobalt blue or royal blue with an accent color of yellow and your base white makes a fresh statement for a spring or summer wedding. I suggest using Envelopments stocks for a unique and custom touch. They have a plethora of colors and a majority of the 2011 color palettes. This ensemble, featured in the new Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, has a save the date, invitation and favor box for a complete look.

This was exactly the theme for my wedding: vintage with a modern twist. I guess I'm ahead of the times.....well, not really :)
