In the midst of wedding season, I was given a breath of fresh air! Custom Sweet 16 invitations are a rare gem around here so I welcomed the chance to take a break from my wedding board and focus some creativity in another direction.
Brittany decided she wanted an NYC taxi cab theme for her party. When we sat down to get some ideas going, it appeared that this was going to take on an 80's vibe with a subway, early hip-hop mood. She said that she loved music and turn tables were on her list of graphics. The yellow and black, from the taxi, stuck in her mind from her adventures from Atlanta to the Big Apple.
In the end, we came up with a square invite with one mounted layer. She chose metallic stocks for both layers and the rest was up to me! So...here are some pics of the final result.
The city skyline was the best part! I love the way it bleeds off of the paper. I also found some great subway art and graffiti fonts to add to some other items she requested. During the 80's, music was a big part of the culture with the birth of hip-hop and the fade of disco. I carried the music theme through with the addition of a DJ's headphones on the envelope and on a custom stamp. For the RSVP, I did a postcard so that her guests would be sure to put it in the mail!
I can't wait to hear how the party went! It's truly a family affair--her dad will be the DJ! Here's to the 80's!
